Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and [legal business name] (“HallSelect”) for using HallSelect. By creating an account you agree to them.

What HallSelect does

HallSelect lists event halls in Canada and the United States and lets organizers find, book and pay for halls. The rental agreement for an event is between the venue and the organizer. HallSelect is not the owner or operator of any hall.

Accounts

Give accurate information and keep your password private. You must be old enough to make a binding contract where you live. Each account is either a hall owner account or a booking account, and the type cannot be changed later.

For hall owners

• Free listings and booking commission. Listing halls is free, with no monthly subscription or per-hall fee. HallSelect charges venue businesses a commission of 2% of rent and selected extras on each paid booking, before tax. Applicable GST/HST on HallSelect’s commission is separate. The commission is deducted from the booking payout. Refunds return the commission in the same proportion. Existing bookings retain the pricing and commission saved when they were requested.
• Listings. You must have the right to rent the hall. Describe it accurately, including exactly what the base rent includes, any restrictions, and your cancellation terms. HallSelect reviews listings before publishing them and may reject, pause or remove a listing.
• Payouts. Payments for bookings are processed by Stripe and paid out to the account you connect, including any tax HallSelect collected on your rent and extras. You agree to Stripe’s Connected Account Agreement. You are responsible for your tax registrations and settings in HallSelect, for filing and remitting the tax collected for you, and for any permits, licences and insurance that apply to your rentals.

For organizers

• Booking and payment. You pay when you book. The time is held for you while you complete payment, and the booking is confirmed as soon as payment goes through.
• Price. Using HallSelect is free for organizers. You pay the base rent, any extras you chose and any applicable tax: GST/HST (and QST in Quebec) charged by registered Canadian venues, or the sales tax a US venue sets. HallSelect adds no booking fee. Every amount is shown before you pay, and each booking has a receipt.
• Using the hall. Follow the venue’s rules and the scope you agreed to.

Cancellations and refunds

Each venue sets its own cancellation terms, shown before you request and saved with your booking. An organizer can ask the venue to cancel a paid booking; the venue decides any refund under its terms. If a venue cancels a paid booking, it should refund the organizer in full. If a payment arrives after an approval has expired, or the time is no longer available, the payment is refunded in full automatically.

Things you must not do

Do not post false or misleading listings, arrange payment outside HallSelect to avoid the commission on bookings found here, harass other users, upload content you do not have rights to, or try to interfere with the service.

Liability

HallSelect is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, HallSelect is not responsible for the condition of any hall, the conduct of venues or organizers, or events that take place, and our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid HallSelect in the 12 months before the claim. Ending your account

You can delete your account in Settings. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there], unless the law where you live says otherwise.
